About
Dylan Jared Griggs is a Black male artist native to Atlanta, GA that specializes in the slight abstract deconstruction of the human figure. My use of warm skin tones, distinct geometric and organic shape, and high contrast in artworks is not only a staple of my style but a reflection on how I view my surroundings. Life has always been colorful and beautiful to me.
Growing up in the predominantly Black neighborhoods of East Atlanta, GA, I was captivated and influenced by the sense of community that was exposed to me at a very young age. Childhood for me was less focused on creating and more focused on experiencing and seeing. I would experience extensive family gatherings with my loved ones. I would see a friendly community kickball tournament at the park. Now, I still experience and see, but I am also taking those experiences and sights and creating something with "Dylan" tinted lenses on it.
My focus is to intrigue nostalgia, warmth, and joy. I want my work to transport viewers into a whimsical retelling of life - albeit, a much more colorful retelling. When I create, I create stories that a wide audience can also relate to. The impact of taking an everyday activity and turning it into an engaging spectacle for millions to enjoy is what I enjoy most about my art. My artwork is an organic and morphing vessel for all demographics from around the globe to find relatability in.
